I’m writing this post from a cabin in Caye Caulker, Belize, a tiny spit of island in the Caribbean Sea. Rain is pounding softly on the metal roof and wind is picking up a bit.
Not surprising, since a (not-yet) hurricane is heading straight here. The family and I are calm, since the storm is not making landfall until tomorrow (Tuesday) night and we’re headed out on the first boat out of the island.
We’ve had a great time here and we’d love to be back someday.
Anyway, just because I’m on “vacation” doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about you guys :)
I’ve been meaning to share with you some resources, by which I mean business podcasts, that have been very helpful in my journey towards location independence.
It’s been great to be able to kick back, listen to good music, and get some great ideas just by listening to the outstanding podcasts listed below.
I wholeheartedly recommend you give them a listen, if only to get your wheels turning about the possibilities.
Online Business Podcasts
The Smart Passive Income (SPI) Podcast
This one is hosted by Pat Flynn, from SmartPassiveIncome.com. Pat touches on many topics relevant to income-generating strategies on his podcasts.
Pat’s podcast is well worth a listen, as he frequently brings to his show guests that are knowledgeable about whatever strategy he happens to be discussing on that episode.
Pat also has a dedicated iPhone app you can use to stream the show and read the blog. Very much worth the download.
Pat found himself in the world of Online Business pretty much by accident. Read the story of how Pat got started here.
Internet Business Mastery (IBM)
Hosted by Sterling and Jay, two guys seriously professional about their approach to building businesses online. Their site and podcast are chock-full of useful advice.
Lifestyle Design Podcast
This Is Your Life
Hosted by Michael Hyatt, this podcast has quickly become of my favorite. I’ll explain why.
Too often when I hear the term “lifestyle design“, what usually follows are self-aggrandizing statements and pronouncements about a wild and crazy lifestyle (usually non-stop partying, throw-care-to-the-wind type stuff).
Personally, that’s not what I’m into. If someone wants to totally design their lifestyle to become the center of attention everywhere they go, that’s their business.
I’d like to think that if I were able to design my ideal lifestyle, my focus would be about being a better person and making a difference to whomever I come in contact with.
Which is why I’m a huge fan of Michael’s podcast.
He provides clear, concise advice, not just about business, but about being a better person/friend, and improving your life in the areas that truly matter (leadership, productivity, relationships). Highly recommended.
And there you have it! Three great resources to take your business, and most importantly, your life, onto bigger and better things.
